Gili Islands

Feline filled paradise islands of Indonesia

Come and visit the Gili islands

and meet our island cats!

Gili Air, Gili Meno and Gili Trawangan, commonly called the Gili Islands, are 3 tiny islands near Lombok in Indonesia. Perfect destination for cat lovers!

There are loads of cats in Gili islands! Every cafe is a cat cafe here! Wherever you sit, you are soon greeted by one or several of our island cats. Most cats on the islands are healthy, happy and fat. They spend their days begging food from tourists or even stealing if you look the other way, taking a nap in the shade when the sun is too hot, climbing trees, playing with other cats and chasing small crabs on the beach.

About 2 hour fast boat trip from Bali and you reach these feline filled paradise islands, surrounded by crystal clear waters. There are no motorbikes or cars here, so that alone gives the islands a quiet, calm atmosphere. Add palm trees, sunshine and relaxed island vibes, and you will easily stay longer than you planned.

Gili Trawangan is the most developed and touristy island. Sometimes also called "party island", which - in a way - is true. If you want to party on the beach until sunrise, that is possible. But you can still find your own quiet spot on the beach, enjoy the lazy days under the sun, and not care much about what is going on at the busy central of Gili T.

Life in GiliT is easy: anything you need you can find here, whether it is good pizza, cold beer or a new hair cut. Beach road is lined with little shops and nice restaurants.

You can spend your day diving, horse back riding, snorkeling, learning Indonesian cooking at one of the cooking schools. Or just find that spot of yours at the beach and relax.

Gili Trawangan is also home to Cats Of Gili. Our charity shop is there, right next to Gili Golf.

Gili Meno is the smallest and quietest island of the 3 Gilis. If you want complete relaxation, Meno is the island for you. Meno is the least developed, but no worries: there are enough restaurants and accommodation, suitable for every budget, to choose from.

Gili Air is the island closest to Lombok and it's something between Meno and Trawangan. Not as quiet as Meno, and not as busy as Trawangan. Many people like Air the best, and no wonder why: it's clean, nice and relaxed and can truly give you the paradise island experience you will never forget.

Come and visit, but be warned: once you come, you may end up staying (and adopting some cats)!

Traveling to Gili islands

Getting to Gili islands is very easy, once you fly to either Bali or Lombok. There are several fast boat companies traveling between Bali and the Gili islands daily and the boat trip takes about 2 hours or more.

If you choose to fly to Lombok instead, you have to take a taxi or hire a private car to take you to a harbour and then get a boat to your destination Gili island (Air, Meno or Trawangan). Public boats as well as private speed boats are available.
