Come and visit Gili Islands. But be warned: once you come, you may end up staying!
Gili Air, Gili Meno and Gili Trawangan, commonly called the Gili Islands, are 3 tiny islands near Lombok in Indonesia.
Just 1,5 hour fast boat trip from Bali and you reach these paradise islands, surrounded by crystal clear waters. There are no motorbikes or cars here, so that alone gives the islands a quiet, calm atmosphere. Add palm trees, sunshine and relaxed island vibes, and you will easily stay longer than you orginally planned.
Gili Trawangan is the most developed and touristy island. Sometimes also called "party island", which - in a way - is true. If you want to party on the beach until sunrise, that is possible. But you can still find your own quiet spot on the beach, enjoy the lazy days under the sun, and not care much about what is going on at the busy central of Gili T.
Life in GiliT is easy: anything you need you can find here, whether it is good pizza, cold beer or a new hair cut. Beach road is lined with little shops and nice restaurants.
You can spend your day diving, horse back riding, snorkling, learning Indonesian cooking at one of the cooking schools. Or just find that spot of yours at the beach and relax.
Gili Meno is the smallest and quietest island of the 3 Gilis. If you want complete relaxation, Meno is the island for you. Meno is the least developed, but no worries: there are enough restaurants and accommodation, suitable for every budget, to choose from.
Gili Air is the island closest to Lombok and it's something between Meno and Trawangan. Not as quiet as Meno, and not as busy as Trawangan. Lot of people like Air the best, and no wonder why: it's clean, nice and relaxed and can truly give you the paradise island experience you will never forget.
Come and visit, but be warned: once you come, you may end up staying!
